I am probably the most amazed that this, and a half dozen other, hollyhocks are growing, blooming, thriving and spreading joy in my summer garden. On a whim in the dead of the past long cold winter I decided to start some perennials from seeds. Having long loved hollyhocks, I decided, with much pessimism, to order a packet of hollyhock seeds. Up until the beautiful ones growing in my garden, my past experience with hollyhocks has been pretty flowers on ugly, rust-ridden foliage. SO YOU CAN IMAGINE my delight when my fledgling seedlings grew into these beautiful, regal presences. Once again, nature’s course in the garden has provided me with a pure joy, a reconfirmation of life’s possibilities, and some very pretty flowers.
