Fine Gardening has chosen to feature some of my photos today in their Garden Photo of the Day category.

Peonies in early evening light
I hope you’ll visit Fine Gardening and have a look at the rest of my photos. I must say, I am excited that Michelle Gervais, a senior editor at Fine Gardening, has chosen my photos to share. I love photographing my garden. It’s nice to know others enjoy looking at them.
I am going to head over and check it out, the perspective which the photo of the lupines was taken with the urns visible in the back is great!

Congrats! You deserve it, you really take some great photos. My favorites are the lupine ones. And there’s not a single aphid in sight, what’s your pest management strategy….photoshop? 😉

Shhhh but the aphids haven’t found my lupines yet. I don’t believe in photoshop, since I learned photography from the documentary photography school, but I like that you think the photo is so perfect it was photoshopped!

Congrats. Love the pic of the lunpines. Will they grow in my garden in CA?

Glad you like the lupines….probably won’t grow in California, but I will confirm that and let you know. It would be worth moving back to NE to have lupines grow in your garden.

Good morning! Iam new to this blog but thanks to fine gardening mag. Iam here now. Loved the pics and want to know what is the white spike of a flower next to the beautiful hollyhock? Your blog is great! Iam from the outskirts of seattle area. We have five acres and we have been on the fine gardening blog as well. Thanks so much!

Hi Jeanne,
Welcome to Of Gardens and thanks for being here! The flower you want to know the name of is Veronicastrum Virginicum “Fascination” (common name is Culver’s Root). It looks white in the photo, but is actually a pale lavender, although it can be all white. It’s a terrific perennial.
I will look to see your garden in Fine Garden’s GPOD … the Seattle area has such a great climate for gardening.

How wonderful to have your photos published in that excellent magazine. I tried writing earlier while on holiday but the internet out-foxed me. Although you seldom hear from me, I do enjoy reading your blog each time you post.
